For this great looking 57 Thunderbird the answer is $24,900 and heres why. This fall we had two children enter college, one as a freshman and our daughter started graduate school at John Hopkins. The total cost at John Hopkins per year is nearly three times the selling price of this T-bird. A burden on any family unless you are made of money. We believe in the value of education and maybe,if circumstances call for it, these children can take care of us in our old age. Lets hope it doesnt work out that way for their sake. With that said I need to find a home for this wonderful car and Im now offering it far below what I have invested in it. I have searched countless on-line listings and I cannot find another 57 T-bird in this condition at this offering price. The paint is only a few years old and looks fantastic . The high gloss two stage urethane was expertly applied and you have to search long and hard for any ripples or waves. My personal opinion is that a great looking car looks its best in black. Including the paint work this car has over $11,000 of upgrades in the last few years. A new soft top in black, new seat covers and door panels plus new carpets and a new head liner for the removable hard top. Four new Uniroyal 14 inch white wall radials with less than a hundred miles on them and a new exhaust system complete with resonators so it has the proper T-bird sound. The undercarriage in not detailed and I have several pictures of the underside if you are interested. The undercarriage has only slight surface rust-what you would expect for a car of this era. This T-bird has never been driven in the snow and always garage kept. The engine is the popular 312 cubic inch Y-block with a 4-barrel on top and its probably safe to say that its all original under the hood and it remains a strong runner thats great to drive. Power steering is a real plus on these early T-birds and makes parking a lot more effortless. This past year I replaced the battery, the oil and filter were changed, a new fuel filter was installed and my mechanic did a good inspection of the complete car. Its not a $50,000 T-bird and I have not tried to oversell the car. The gauges are all original and beyond the temperature and fuel gauges the others are not operating. The original Town & Country signal seeking radio works properly-I installed a new antenna- and all the lights and turn signals are in good working order. The soft top frame needs looked at , it needs some sort of adjustment to allow the seat to move back further. All the heavy lifting is done on this great value and with minimal work you will have a nice T-bird that may not bring $50,000 but it will be worth a lot more than the $24,900 invested.
